DEMF 2005 Schedule

The Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF), a.k.a. electronicmusicfest.org, a.k.a. The Movement Festival has once again changed its name under new ownership: with Kevin Saunderson at the helm, it’s now called Fuse-IN. They’ve just released the lineup for this year, and if you can find it amidst all of the horrible flash interface and tiny fonts, it appears pretty good. I’ve reproduced it below for those who can’t stand the website, or want to be able to link to it.

Fuse-Indetroit / DEMF 2005 Schedule

I think this might be the best lineup they’ve ever put together, with highlights for me being the Hague electro crew (Orgue Electronique, Bangkok Impact, and Legowelt), Surgeon, Fabrice Lig, Aril Brikha, Green Velvet, Slum Village, Aux88, Stacey Pullen, Juan Atkins as Model 500, Alexander Robotnik and the Shitkatapult guys (Phon.O, Apparat, and Peter Grummich). If I can afford the time, I’ll try to make it out there.

  1. You want my comment..here it is!!!
I think that DEMF shouldnt have changed. I also think that if Detroit is contemplating about weither or not it should go on, they should be thinking about all the other festivals and concerts should be looked into too. DEMF is no better or worse than all the other shit that goes on detroit.

  3. Change the name, have a cover charge! So be it,judging by the line up it will be worth it. I’ve made it to demf every year and i think this year is going to be the best yet. Ever since the underground scene has deminished demf is the only event outside the clubs that gives me my electronic fix. Thanks Kevin Saunderson By the way i loved your performance last year,it was the best one of all.Sincerely True Tech Head D.J. Eric “WHACHAWONT” Lellos

  4. electronicmusicfest.org doesn’t work.

    what are the prices?

please post an accurate site so i can research this event and its information.

    thanks.

  5. underline richie hawtin’s performance return, as well as a move to the underground stage this year. i can’t even begin to try to explain how insane this will be, the number of people crowding this small stage, with almost absolute darkness between his use of lights in the high-ceiling catacombs beneath of park.

i agree with your must see’s also, adding carl craig, underground resistance, and octave one for some truly nostalgic detroit styles. akufen is a good add also.

clark warner will also be on early underground on the last day. honorable mention for this guy, following in some of the same footsteps as his mentor hawtin, i’ve seen him perform of a few occassions and it isnt to be missed. his sound is minimal, yet retains an organic, human feel throughout the soundscape.

wish i would make it this year– hoping the bootlegs are out more than previous years.

  6. demf is always at hart plaza momorial day weekend, it sucks that theres a cover charge thought- the hoedown didnt have cover charges

  7. I agree there shouldnt be a cover charge. I myself wont be going this year in protest of the changes. I encourage others not to attend, because if the turnout is poor, they will most likely make it free again.

  8. What is the price of the cover charge to get into DEMF? I don’t remember there ever being a cover charge before. How early does the concert open up as wel?

  9. i guess there is gonna be alot of drugs and whatnot… im hearing that this year there will be a drug raid as well i dont want ne 1 i know to get busted so if u can email me ne thing u knoe about where the cops stand and any other helpfull shit… see ya all there

  10. Why do they have A list techno dj’s but some whack ass hip-hop I saw De-la Soul Before and Mix Master Mike what the fuck is Aux88 and Slum Village. What did you spend all your money flyin foreign Techno dj’s and get the cheapest Hip-Hop acts you could shit slum Villagge might be payin to perform. Fuck 10$ a day!

  11. I cant beleive that they are charging cover this year. That is wrong. We havent paid cover for like 10 years. I have gone every year, and I am very mad about this. Also….why do they keep changing the name? (ex:the movement, fuse-in)Sorry, but it will ALWAYS be DEMF. And everyone that goes every year will agree with me for sure.

  13. The name was changed from DEMF because some company had it copywritten. So instead of going to court and getting sued, they decided to change the name. “Movement” was the outcome of this, and why it was changed this year, i dont know, but yea, i agree, it will always be DEMF to me.

$10 for 12 hours? Some of the most legendary djs? Packed wall to wall, shoulder to shoulder? shit, i say its more than worth it. Yeah, i would like to get in for free, but thats not how it is this year. In my opinion, $5 would be more reasonable seeing as it used to be free, but thats not how it is, so im coughing up the $10 to get in. I heard that if they do well, it will be free or less next year. Part of the reason they are charging is because they lost alot of sponsers. (pepsi was one of them i believe) so if you want to “protest” dont buy any pepsi products or any of the others that backed out.

  14. Geez, read the website, it will be free next year., still a pretty good deal at $25 for 3 days…

  15. Yeah, it sucks they’re charging, there were a lot of people that went b/c it was free that most likely wont be going now. Does it suck? yes, was it what demf needed to infuse life into the event again and try to get it away from corporate conglomerates? yes, it sucks, suck it up and kick a couple bucks in, the lineup is well worth it. For those that aren’t aware, the problem with detroit is many of the city officials are corrupt and whack, yeah, de-centralization of the auto industry hurt detroit bad, but whats really killing detroit is the people in power running it now.

  16. you think they could afford a half decent web host with the millions of dollers there gona be making off this.

  17. Shit since it cost money this year next year better be great. I couldn’t go but I wanted to. And it’s not actually called any of the shitty things you people said, it’s called the “TechFest”, and it will be forever. Cause that’s what it is. And everyone smokes dope, even 5-0. So don’t worry bout getting raided. This is in the D hello, course it’s goin to be fun. Be careful not to get jacked tho, people are crazy there. See you people next year. Be there of be square motherfuckers!

  19. First Cameron,it was never called electronicmusicfest.org

it was DEMF first, then MOVEMENT, then in-fuse DETROIT

And Jessi, it was NEVER called TechFest. Where are you from, by the way? You also said everyone is smoking dope, even the 5-0…not everyone gets high. Being high is one thing, having possession is another. Get your facts straight. A lot of busts happened this weekend, and a lot of people OD.

things change, get over it! last year they were begging for money, when we already donated a lot, and helped produce some afterhour parties.

And Jonathon…ditto on the fucking city officials being corrupt.

  20. Also from Detroit, I know exactly how many of these folks feel.
The schedule was remarkably good this year, but, the cover charge simply wasn’t worth it to me.
Perhaps next year, should there be one.

  21. There’s something inside me…It’s, it’s coming out…I feel like killing you FUCKIN DETROIT KIDS!!!
Slowly turning you, into a flesh eating zombies!!!
Knowing this l can only imagine eating the vaginal skins of every young women that has signed on!!!
I proceed to imagine their bleeding cunts…as i think of a way to fuckin end the life of the rest of the DETROIT KIDS!!!
My body smeared with the guts I’ve extracted
    through there hole!!
I have a dependence on vaginal skin…It’s become my sexual addiction…I must slit, the twitching clit!!!
Between the legs, I love to carve!!!
My cock is dripping with her blood!!!

  22. The Movement, DEMF, whatever you want to call it is irrelevant; really. It was amazing this year just as it always is. You can’t put a price on a good time. Besides, the city of Detroit needs that $10 more than I do. P.L.U.R.!!

  23. I read all kinds of crazy junk about what happened to DEMF from the city officials duping all those involved in the production to there being a fued between productions and such. But fuck it, biggest damn electronic event you can find! DEMF/MOVEMENT/In-Fuse Detroit, whatever you want to call it, I remember the first DEMF and one thing that was clear was that it was a serious deal. Eveyone on here is complaining about cover charges, switching names etc. SO what if it costs 10 a day. Your gonna boycott it so that this event gets put to extinction? Support the Hood, instead of complaining that you’ll have to pay money to support something born in your town you should be finding a way to help out and make this event better than any of the previous years.

  24. I agree with all of you DEMF will always be DEMF no matter what the hell they call it. DEMF is one of my favorite weekends of the year, who cares if there is a cover charge… you cant tell me it wasnt worth it, if you didnt have fun you must’ve been partying it up the wrong way.

  25. Absolutely with you it agree. It seems to me it is very excellent idea. Completely with you I will agree. replica designer bags , You are not right. I am assured. I can defend the position. I will not begin to speak on this theme. It is remarkable, very amusing opinion Aha, so too it seemed to me.
