Amanda pointed me to an Economist article about the dabbawala, a food distribution group in India that is being noticed for their ingenuity in business structure and supply chain logistics. The group pays all 5000 members equally, and has achieved a 99.9999% delivery accuracy. Watch them in action:

I met one of the guys – President of one of dabbawallas association, Mr. Raghunath and Secretary Gangram and was trying to understand their view on expanding the business online but they were reluctant to it were looking for some shortcut to grow their business. They were open to ideas but did not want to invest time or energy in building tiffin network online. Anyways, they have a good organizational knowledge.
